I hope the character suffers from CTE later on the series. He takes way too much damage. It would be cool if it happens to Ippo while he's young, so the story can explore this aspect of combat sports in a different way than Rocky. What am I saying, it's a comedy manga too. Never gonna happen =P I'm just hoping they make Ippo learn some fricking defense. His defense only works against random mobs–every boss fight he basically takes brain damage.

Hah, did not expect that. Actually, they undersell the CTE–even fighters/ football players who don't take as much damage as Ippo can develop bad symptoms years later–personal ity changes, cognitive issues, parkinson's, etc. So when he's already showing signs like that, they usually don't improve, they slowly get worse.
