I wouldn't have expected it, since Spanish more often uses "-or" suffix for the actor of a verb, i.e. "runner" -> "corredor", "driver" -> "conductor"; while "-ante" is usually used for adjectives, i.e. "importante", "vacante"

Actually "ante" can also mean "someone/ something who is - root word". Tolerante = someone who is tolerant Calmante = something that calms Votante = someone who votes Colorante = something that colors Etc…
