Oh okay, I get it. (googled the phrase above). Try this instead: do an "FB Like" with your right fist. Thumb shows where you want the cap/screw/nut to go, fingers show what direction to turn. My dad called it the "right hand rule" long ago.

I still sing the alphabet song in my head when I try to find anything sorted in alphabetical order

I also sometimes need to pretend to hold a pen to figure out which one is my right and which one is my left. This is particularly true when driving.

No that's worse, then I have to look at my hand every time :p

Depends on learning style. Mine's visual, so it's easier for me. I might have problems remembering the short alliteration mentioned above.
