  • Sometimes I find some long ago note or tweet that I wrote implying something bad or disappointing happened and I have no other notes or any idea what happened on that date, a mystery forever lost to time, but also a reminder that THIS TOO SHALL PASS always applies

  • After watching an episode of:

    • Brooklyn 99: Oh, Netflix already queued up the next episode, might as well
    • WandaVision: I need to wait one more week to find out what happens??
    • The Expanse: So many things happened, I need time to digest

  • Please write more.

Not just on social media, FB, Twitter, whatever. Write on your own sites and blogs. On your tumblrs, wordpresses, whatever. Long-form, rambling, incessant. The world could use more sincere blogging.

  • The circle of life:

    • I want to do so many things - things cost time - I don’t have enough time - I don’t want to prioritize the things, I want to do them all - I end up just going to sleep

  • Today in how dumb I am: a replacement band for my fitbit that I had ordered arrived today. I easily removed the old band and quickly put the new one in place but when I tried to wear it, I realized I had put them on upside-down. =/ And now I can’t remove it!

  • I’ve been using git for at least 6 years, and every time I need to do a merge I still search for “git merging” to make sure I don’t merge in the wrong direction

  • I had a data import screwup this morning that made me say “thank god for backups!”. Good job past me setting up regular backups! That’s what I get for coding something on very little sleep

  • I had some complaints about the latter half of the season, but I liked how they resolved their timey-wimey business. Agents of SHIELD had a great run and a pretty good series finale

  • Unnecessarily re-installed xcode today because Stackoverflow had an old accepted answer that involved a reinstall; the actual useful answer was more recent (4 years newer) and only required settings updates. SO needs a way for people to mark newer answers as more relevant.

  • The analog wall clock in my room randomly stops and I guess it starts again at some point since the time changes, so whenever I look at it I basically get a random time. I thought about changing the batteries, but then I realized this is super on brand for the quarantine period.

  • 3am shower thought: i want some kind of #indieweb (federated?) search. Idk how it’d work but want to be able to search only indie/personal sites and not include merchant sites or pro blogs or things like that

  • I miss being able to set a custom status message in my messaging app. Company I worked at for the longest time used jabber/xmpp for internal messaging, which supported setting a status message. I often used it to put short messages, jokes or PSAs, and I like to think I was one of the first at the company to practice this and it spread later. Just a fun thing to scroll through your contact list and see the random status messages people put. I suppose in the modern age no one really scrolls through their contact lists though.

Modern messaging apps like Messenger, Signal, Viber, WhatsApp etc dont have this. Discord does though, and so does Google Hangouts, since it is xmpp based I believe. Tweets are supposedly status updates. Hmm, maybe I should make a Twitter app where it just lists out all your contacts and shows the last status message from each one.
