  • Something I’ve been wondering about, maybe someone can enlighten me: if as some people claim, Marcos Sr is already entitled to be buried sa LNMB, what has stopped him from being buried there before? Bakit kailangan pa iutos ng presidente? Meron bang discretion ang executive branch to allow or deny that privelege? Kasi even if you say that past administrations were not friendly enough to the Marcos family, if totoo that the rules entitled them to that privelege, bakit hindi sila nagfile ng kaso against whomever was preventing it?

  • I consider anyone who believes Marcos to have been a hero and/or a good president to be around the same level as flat-earthers, holocaust deniers or 9/11 conspiracy theorists (jet fuel can’t melt steel beams!). The behavior, logic, and way of thinking (or lack thereof) seems about the same

  • I wonder if my respect for due process is because in software development, if you go cowboy without any sort of process things will tend to break down and descend into chaos. I’ve been in crazy projects with a lot of problems but I’ve never wanted to skip process like testing, verification, triage, etc. Imagine if your project lead was like this crazy cowboy where he’s all “fix lang tayo ng fix, wag na tayo magverify, we only have 3-6 months, my god i hate bugs!”, tapos pag umalma yung testing lead sasabihan sya ng “wag ka magulo, sasabihan ko yung devs na wag ka respetuhin”

  • Kung merong kelangan mag move on para magkaron ng Unity, bakit hindi ang Marcoses ang mag move on at ilibing na lang si Marcos sa Ilocos? Mas ma-aappreciate pa ng mga tao duon for some reason I can’t fathom. Bakit yung mas madami na nagdusa sa mga kasalanan ni Marcos (na karamihan hindi pa nabibigyan ng hustisya) ang magbibigay-daan para lamang sa pride ng iisang pamilya? Hindi ba dapat the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few?

  • SUICIDE SQUAD Spoiler-Free Review:

    • a fun, wild ride. Explosions and gunfire and creepy tentacles abound
    • just don’t expect too much from the plot or characterization. There was more than one scene where I was like WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT?
    • I liked the soundtrack
    • very much a Deadshot/Harley movie, other characters not given much back story
    • I still like Ledger’s joker over Leto’s. Leto’s portrayal is like crazy gangster
    • I had no idea who the big bad was going in, so that’s something. Task Force X completely over their heads
    • hard to compare to the other DC movies so far, as it goes in a completely different direction
    • one mid-credits scene, no post-credits
    • magugustuhan ba ni Mama: Probably not. Also, madaming tatanungin
  • “If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.” - E.B. White

  • Saying that we can’t complain about the killings today because we didn’t complain about the killings before is a bit like saying you shouldn’t cram the day before the finals because you didn’t study earlier

  • Just watched the series finale of Star Trek Voyager, finally those crazy nerds managed to get home! I came into the series with low expectations given its reputation, but I think it was pretty ok overall. There were some pretty ridiculous episodes here and there, but even the much-revered TNG suffered from that. Janeway made some questionable decisions throughout the series, but arguably they were faced with a different set of quandaries than the crew of TNG or DS9. I feel like Voyager also had way more time travel episodes than either TNG or DS9 for some reason. Best character: The Doctor, although he’s kind of a deus-ex-machina too, especially once he gets that mobile emitter “Oh, don’t worry I can do that super dangerous thing because I’m a hologram!”. Seven of Nine a close second, I was mildly annoyed with the character as first introduced, but she was developed well as the series went along. Worst character: Chakotay. Ugh, I cringe whenever there’s one of his “Space Indian” episodes. He didn’t even do anything in the series finale except be a love interest for Seven of Nine

  • I wonder if there’s a strong positive correlation between being a fan of sci-fi and respect for progressive values like equality and human rights. Binging Star Trek certainly makes me feel more liberal

  • “I believe in science”, “We will overturn Citizens United”… I understand why some people hate her, but Hillary’s saying a lot of the right things (although it’s a sad thought that in 2016 believing in science is actually a thing to be declared in America)

  • I dont get it.

  • Between Affleck (DC Cinematic), Conroy (DC Animated), Arnett (Lego), Troy Baker (Telltale), and Mazouz (TV/Gotham), this has to be a record as to the most number of actors playing Batman/Bruce Wayne in upcoming projects (maybe for any character ever). I guess we should be happy the Arrowverse doesn’t have a Bruce Wayne yet

  • “By taking the risk of trying hard means you are going to make mistakes, and then the most important thing is hopefully realizing that and doing something about it. Being a good dad is not a static thing. Having a good marriage isn’t a static thing. Neither is a democracy. Neither is a friendship. Tomorrow morning you have to start over, continue the process and make adjustments. And if you don’t… it’s a game that moves as you play, and if you don’t move you can’t play” Viggo Mortensen, on Here’s The Thing podcast

  • This administration will need to carefully weigh and balance their statements between two conflicting objectives: they need to both reinforce our strong position and avoid provoking armed conflict with China. It will be a delicate balancing act requiring carefully nuanced statements… we might be doomed

  • It’s a bit funny (or maybe sad). During the campaign period, some people cried “trial by publicity!” or “innocent until proven guilty!” when Trillianes was hurling accusations; those same people now see nothing wrong with the name and shame campaign vs a lot more people, and some even praise it as “brilliant strategy”. Either both are wrong or both are okay, you can’t have it both ways

  • Finally watched the president’s inaugural speech. Very good, concise, hits a lot of the right notes. Still focused on his law and order/illegal drugs platforms and acknowledged and addressed criticisms directly. Very presidential, and thus very different from his behavior during the campaign. Hopefully he manages to live up to his words (and maybe gets some sense in his head re: Marcos)

  • I was re-watching the GOT finale… …and near the end of the episode, Jon Snow had assembled an army, then he did something evil to summon an ancient dragon god. And Bran was shouting at him “JON WHAT HAVE YOU DONE” but Jon was shaking his head “It’s done!” And it was really loud, with lightning and thunder all over (it turns out I was hearing the rain in real life), and the dragon god was huge, like a building, it descended from the split heavens and it looked like Bahamut from Final Fantasy. As it descended it was chanting YOU HAVE LOST TO YOUR DOOM… …then I woke up!

  • Okay, the ending was a bit weak for me but now that I’ve caught up, Gotham had a great season 2! Ranking now changed: Gotham > Shield/Flash > LoT > Arrow haha The show has greatly improved since they moved away from the villain-of-the-week format and went for longer story arcs, and lots more comic book references too! The only story arc I wasn’t too happy about was the Penguin family stuff, but it didn’t matter too much so that’s fine. Looking forward to Season 3!

  • I feel like if I was younger and more trusting of state authority, there would have been a better chance of me being in favor of the death penalty. But I’m old and wise enough to know that humans are fallible creatures, and somehow placing them in power makes them even more so, and thus we should avoid giving the state too much authority over human life. Side note: I clicked through the link and read through the comments section a bit. Big mistake, sumakit lang ulo ko sa terrible comments
