That's quite a catch-22. XD
Many people never reach this level of self-awareness, even in hindsight.
It's difficult to maintain an open mind. You have to be convinced that what you're doing is right. Too many contradictions pointed out by friends and enemies make you doubt your self-judgment, and soon you run the risk of not doing anything because of crippling self-doubt. The other alternative is zealotry. It's easier to paint yourself as the hero in your version of the story.
Simply being aware that such a level of self-awareness exists and can be aspired to is already wisdom
