I like how there are people defending the Villar appointment because it was a good trade to gain control of Congress. Who needs meritocracy?

Well he did adhered to principle of meritocracy with his appointee for Press Secretary i.e., Atty Salvador Panelo - the highly experienced and highly skilled lawyer defending the mass murderer Ampatuans! He will definitely can make use of his service if Du30 makes good of his promise to massacre 100,000 within 3-6 months! /s
Out of the 100,000 people who will be executed in the next 3-6 months, how many do you think have voted for Du30? ;)
I'm actually willing to give Villar and Panelo a try (PNoy had his own army of people he put in power because of reasons e.g. SSS, DILG, etc). Its the CPP appointment that is really giving me the heebie-jeebies. I was actually expecting more GMA peeps tbh. Still like it or not, we have to keep supporting him as President until he f*cks up (hopefully he doesn't) - then we try to take him out of the seat.
The Villars have a reputation that I'm aware of. I cringe.
Meritocracy is a platonic ideal that rarely apply in real-world systems and situations. I personally am not very enthused with the appointments but I'm willing to see how it goes and they all have to pass the confirmation process. I predict that we will have a very lively opposition (reminiscent of the Erap regime) and I fully support that as part of any normal democratic process.
