(“Late Game Review” because I’m trying to play through games on my ridiculously old backlog, so these games are pretty old) (Click to view full-size) 11 Nov 2018 5:07amClose The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim came out on 11/11/2011. I remember I bought the game for Steam on launch day. I finally “finished” it after 350 hours of gameplay and seven years real-time. “Finished” in this case means “achievement complete”, not just “main quest complete”, because as any Bethesda gamer knows, that’s not how their RPGs roll.

Playing Skyrim: I have my wife (Aela) and adopted child move into my homey cabin in the woods. I ask Aela how the kids are doing and she asks what I was thinking bringing us out into the wilds where there are wolves and bears and whatnot. Ignoring her, I talk to the child and offer a game of tag. The child immediately runs outside and I chase after her to find her being attacked by wolves. I hurriedly draw my sword, Aela would never let me live this down

It might be overheating. Get a program to monitor CPU temp (try CPU-Z) and the graphics card temp (try gputemp). See if you can set them to warn when the temp reaches a certain value.
If you find that it’s really overheating, you might have to scale down the settings to avoid it, or maybe clean out your CPU case or invest in more heat sinks.

PSA: Oblivion on sale today on Steam (yesterday was Morrowind, I can see where this is going) via reddit

Yes, there is no nonsteam version of skyrim for pc. Also, do games nowadays still require the disc to be in the tray? I wouldnt know as all my pc gaming is via digital downloads nowadays

I just realized the Oblivion and Morrowind sales were only for 66% off; I’m sure I’ve seen them go for 75% off before though. It’s only a couple of dollars difference for each, but I wish I had waited since I probably won’t have time to play them both in the near future =/

I probably won’t have time to play this at all, but I went ahead and got it anyway with 30 minutes left on the sale.

Looks like it’s this one: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12452/? (must have been renamed for some reason), but I can’t use it as it requires Dawnguard which I don’t have (waiting for Steam sale to get it)
Oh well, guess I’ll just wait.

Posted on r/skyrim: Can anyone suggest interesting content mods (quests, dungeons, etc) for Skyrim (no Dawnguard)?
Not interested in stuff like graphics improvements, new skins, new armors, weapons, etc. Prefer things with new quests or NPC interactions, or doing something clever with the engine. Thanks!

Am I the only one who doesn’t really care about the graphical upgrades? What do we have to look forward to in terms of additional content from the modding community?

Posted on r/skyrim: Bug in wolf queen v6 quest
So the library guy at the college asks me to find a copy of the wolf queen v6 at the folgunthur crypt. Trouble is i’ve already cleared this dungeon and have the book in my inventory, but i dont get the option to turn it in, and the quest marker still points to the empty chest in the crypt that i got it from. I tried putting it back in the chest (so i could pick it up again) but apparently i cant because its a quest item. Anything i can do about this?

So… #skyrim or PTQ tomorrow? I’m leaning 70-30 in favor of dragons…
