  • Warcraft movie review:

    • if you are not a fan of Warcraft lore, I do not recommend watching it. It’s kind of a generic fantasy movie in that case, nothing too exceptional. Pwede nang cable
    • if you are a fan, go watch it. You know you want to
    • costumes, cgi, fight scenes fairly good. i was worried that the cgi orcs would look weird and out of place, but I actually like how they turned out
    • surprisingly faithful to the original plot of the source material
    • … which leads to a piss-poor ending for anyone just wanting to watch generic fantasy movie, because of what happens to the main characters in the source material
    • a lot of warcraft lore elements are introduced with minimal exposition, which would probably overwhelm a non-fan

  • Finished Legends of Tomorrow S1. It wasn’t always the best, and their time travel logic is terribly inconsistent, but I think it was a fun ride overall and finished strong with a great cliffhanger for S2. Mike Ross ftw!

  • Finished watching all 5 seasons of the BBC Merlin show. Lots of Game of Thrones actors making an appearance lol. I like how they flipped the trope of Merlin being a wise old wizard advising Arthur, but of course the series ending was way too predictable (it can’t be helped given the Arthurian legend)

  • It’s an indication of narrow mindedness that BBM supporters don’t understand where Leni’s votes are coming from. It’s a dictatorial mindset that doesn’t understand that people can have other POVs outside of their personal echo chambers

  • In addition to improving education on Martial Law history, maybe we should also seriously consider adding the following to the high school curriculum:

    • basic logic and reasoning
    • different types of fallacies
    • how to do basic research
    • how to verify whether something is true
    • how to verify whether a source is reliable
    • how to to identify satire and/or sarcasm
    • basic concepts of statistics
    • how to articulate your arguments well (I think the Eng/Fil subject in HS curriculum covers only literature and not any sort of communication skill)
    • how to debate and argue without taking things personally
    • basic concepts of economics
    • proper usage of memes
    • when it is appropriate to post spoilers

Can someone forward this to Tesdaman? Thanks! Lol

  • Nakakasira ng faith in humanity yung mga nagpopost ng #BBM4VP sa Twitter (I blame Red kaya ako nagbasa nito). I’m kind of tempted to write a Twitter bot to reply to all these people and berate them a bit, but as Maoi would say I am sadly burdened with decency

  • I’m happy to say I managed to get through the election period without having to block or unfollow anyone because of election shenanigans. Yes, even the most obnoxious ones, pinagtyagaan ko kayo lahat haha. Sana wala din nagunfollow sakin :p

  • Sa dami ng namimigay ng sample ballot outside the voting site, I was tempted that when the next one came over at me I would raise my hands in the air and loudly shot “ABA BAKIT MO AKO INAABUTAN NG FIVE HUNDRED PESOS! AYAW KO NAMAN IBOTO YANG SI !” (Don’t do this)

  • So, after all that weighing of pros and cons of the different candidates, I might be the only idiot who accidentally voted #abstain4president. It wasn’t any glitch in the machine or the ballot, just a glitch in the user. After standing in a hot queue for one hour, I took my ballot and sat down. I decided to skip the President slot first and just come back to it later since I was undecided, then filled in VP, Party-List and Senators. I decided to just skip the local candidates altogether and submitted my ballot and only realized my mistake when the scanner said UNDERVOTE for president. Oh well, I guess it was my destiny to abstain after all haha. I leave the rest to you guys!

  • For my pro-Duterte friends, I have a survey. I’m not going to try to change your minds, but which of the following views do you hold (EJK = extra judicial killings):

    1. I think there are no EJKs in Davao
    2. (removed - don’t answer this, see comment below)
    3. I think there are EJKs in Davao, but the authorities/the mayor are not involved
    4. I think that those allegedly killed by EJKs were killed by authorities in legitimate operations or self-defense
    5. I think there are EJKs in Davao, and the authorities are involved, but it’s okay because:
      a. They’re criminals and they deserve it
      b. Going through the judicial system takes too long
      c. Hindi naman ako affected
      d. It is an acceptable price to pay for peace and order/progress
      e. winawarningan naman muna sila
    6. I don’t want to think about it kasi wala naman akong first-hand info
    7. Something else (feel free to explain)

If you are uncomfortable giving your answer in public, feel free to PM me

  • True? False? Hyperbole? Misquote? Joke lang? Out of context? BIAS? Ok lang kasi matapang naman sya? Hindi dapat ako ma-offend unless criminal ako? Bukas iba na ang kwento?

Seriously though, if you’re as entertained by shenanigans as I am, he’s like the gift that keeps on giving. If/when he wins, this teleserye goes on for six years (or maybe 3-6 months lang, if he’s actually telling the truth on that one)

  • Captain America Civil War spoiler-free review:

    • great fight sequences, start to finish
    • the newcomers were great, airport big fight sequence had a great surprise (and not the one you already saw in the trailer - although you might have already been spoiled if you pay attention to certain toy lines), although I feel like a couple of the characters were pulled in to the conflict in a way that was a bit weak, but it’s still pretty good overall
    • the plot was ok. Justification for the civil war was ok. Some surprises. The villain motivation was slightly mediocre, but that wasn’t really the focus of the movie anyway
    • Martin Freeman’s role felt totally superfluous - it did not seem necessary to cast Martin Freeman
    • the movie kind of ends with the MCU and the Avengers in a weird place, some people might not like it
    • better than: Winter Soldier. The plot kind of develops in the same way but everything is on a much bigger scale now
    • there are two post-credit scenes, one in the middle and one at the very end
    • Imax worth it? Probably. Not very ostentatious use of 3d, but most of the fight sequences have it. You might get dizzy if you’re not used to it
    • Magugustuhan ba ni Mama? Maybe, but I’d have to keep explaining who these characters are
  • I dont mind when fb groups dedicated to particular candidates post wrong info and nobody bothers to correct them, desisyon nyo naman kung gusto nyo ng echo chamber. But if you share that stuff on my feeds imma have to start correcting

There’s almost the same amount of pro-Duterte people, but it’s like more pro-Roxas people are bothering to speak up now (dati yung mga Duterte lang ang maingay, onti lang yung maingay na Roxas). Dumadami na din yung pro-Miriam. Wala pa ring Poe and Binay lol

He’s quite handsome too. PM me for details :D

  • Yes, I watched the whole video. I know that he’s a brave son of a bitch willing to let himself take the place of hostages and that he killed all the rapists. Hooray for him.

No, I still don’t want him to be president. I wouldn’t want Rambo to be president either. But that’s me. If you’re voting for him, that’s fine, ikaw bahala. But that doesn’t mean tatanggapin mo na lang na hindi nya kailangan mag-apologize. Hint: Pwede mag-acknowledge ng flaws and still vote for him..

No, it doesn’t excuse the rape joke. It doesn’t excuse trivializing rape. Saying na ganun talaga magsalita ang mga lalaki trivializes rape (I hope I don’t have to say this, but hindi ako ganun magsalita). It trivializes rape. Saying that your rival candidate is not rapeable trivializes rape. Saying that heroic deeds excuse rape jokes trivializes rape. Claiming that he said it in anger doesn’t excuse it (it makes it worse). Repeating the joke for cheap laughs during political gatherings? Trivializes rape.

Saying the other canddiates have also said terrible if not worse things does not excuse it.

What would have been a better response? “I’m sorry for my poor choice of words. I’m sorry for repeating those words during political rallies. Rape is never a laughing matter, no matter what the context. Real men should never look at any woman with thoughts of rape. I ask all my supporters not to speak this way about women. I will try not to speak this way again.”

But we’re not going to get that response. That’s the kind of person he is.

  • A modern day parable for the Philippines:

Mark Jr. appears before the board of directors of bank. He is applying to be their CEO.

Director A: So, why should we hire you?

Mark Jr: I have a lot of good plans for the bank, I plan to (blah, blah, blah)

Director B: Wow, this guy sounds really good! He has some good plans! We should hire him!

Director A: Wait a minute. (Looking at Mark Jr’s resume). It says here you’re the son of the Mark Sr?

    Mark Jr: Yes, so?

Director A: Mark Sr stole billions from this bank when he was the CEO!

    Director B: Really? I wasn’t around then.

Mark Jr: That’s not true! My father’s wealth was legitimate!

Director A: There were court decisions ordering him to pay back the money!

Director B: Well, we can’t really fault him for the sins of his father right?

Mark Jr: What he said! That was a long time ago, I was still young then. I had nothing to do with it!

Director A: You were already 20 years old at that time! Your father hired you as his assistant, how could you have nothing to do with it?

Mark Jr: I’m not the one who was convicted right?

Director A: Will you at least apologize for your father’s crimes?

Mark Jr: Why should I apologize? I can only apologize for myself.

Director A: But you admit he stole from this bank?

Mark Jr: The court already decided about that, we should just move on.

Director B: I agree, that’s the past. We should be excited about this guy’s plans for the bank

Director A: Wait a minute, your family hasn’t given back the money your father stole yet. You should give it back!

Mark Jr: I cannot give what I do not have!

Director A: Aren’t you the executor of your father’s estate?

Mark Jr: Hey let’s look to the future ok, not the past

Director B: I think we should give this guy a chance. Look at his father’s record, he did some good stuff for the bank before he stole the money.

Director A: (glares at Director B like he’s an idiot)

If it were you, would you hire Mark Jr?
